With the Sun now in the sign of Cancer, it’s time to turn to our emotions. Cancer, a cardinal water sign ruled by the moon, represents the feminine, our mother, the moon, our family, and our desire for safety, comfort, and security. As we enter summer, tending to our inner world, and that of those we love, becomes a primary focus.

Contrary to the warm and fuzzy vibes of Cancer, over the last two weeks we’ve had some challenging transits. The Saturn-Sun opposition that occurred on June 15th marked one of the toughest days of the year, and the follow-up of Saturn opposing Mercury on June 18th created another super challenging transit.

On top of that, the June 17th waning quarter moon in Pisces wrapped up a significant cycle, too.

A waning quarter moon happens when the moon is 75% through her lunation or the time from new moon to new moon—exactly one week after the full moon. The waning quarter moon offers a call to action, a time to cultivate seeds planted long ago, and a clearing in preparation for the upcoming new moon.

However, due to the interconnectivity of lunar phases over time, each waning quarter moon provides a point of culmination in the Lunar Gestation Cycle—the two-and-a-quarter year cycle that precedes it. In this case, the recent waning quarter moon exemplified a point of culmination from the new moon eclipse in Pisces from March 20, 2015.

You see, on March 20, 2015 we experienced a solar eclipse at 29 degrees of Pisces—the last degree of the last sign of the zodiac. This eclipse occurred on the heels of the final of seven exact squares between Uranus, who represents change and revolution, and Pluto, who represents power. These seven squares rocked life dramatically for all of us, bringing large-scale sociopolitical and religious change.

So this waning quarter moon packed a punch, asking us to acknowledge the significance of all this on a global and personal level. It revealed both our wounds and our purpose, while simultaneously shining a light on karma set in place two-and-a-quarter years ago.

But here’s the good news: we stand to reap massive rewards right now, as a very potent Lunar Gestation Cycle comes to a close and we welcome this new moon in Cancer, happening on June 23 at 10:30 pm ET.

With the solstice having happened just three days ago, and the Sun officially in Cancer, this new moon comes at a turning point in the year, beckoning us to explore our domestic natures. Home, family, safety, and security call forth to us. From a spiritual perspective, Cancer evokes the feminine and mother energy.

And with the moon, Sun, Mercury, and Mars in this sign, this deeply nurturing energy is stronger than ever. With Venus traveling through Taurus making an exact trine to Pluto in Capricorn—we are incredibly supported. All while Saturn in Sag and Uranus in Aries continue to dance positively in a tight angle, creating another supportive alignment. There is potential for quite a bit of breakthrough.

Five Things To Do for Major Breakthrough During This New Moon

1. Review.

Look backward and unravel the patterns unfolding in your life. As we cross the midpoint of 2017, look back on your goals for the year. Do they still feel relevant? If not what needs to change? Then take it a step deeper: think back to March of 2015. Is there a bigger cycle in your life wrapping up?

2. Plant seeds for your future.

When the Sun and the moon align at the same degree of the same sign creating an incredibly fertile moment, an opportunity presents itself. Use it consciously to bring new ideas into being. This new moon commences a Lunar Gestation Cycle that will be in effect until September 21, 2019. Choices and intentions made now have long term implications (as they do every new moon).

3. Give yourself space to feel your emotions.

Moon-ruled Cancer brings raw emotions to the surface. Should you need to, allow yourself time for a good cry. Give yourself space to sort through your feelings.

4. Host a new moon ritual.

With the summer solstice and the new moon coming so close to one another, now’s the time to unlock your inner witch. Give yourself the freedom to plan and execute a ritual to honor your in-dwelling cosmos, feminine beauty, the seasons of nature, your sisters, and your desires. Gather with your friends and consciously choose to honor this moment in time and space.

5. Remember, success isn’t a race it’s a rhythm.

As we move forward into the season of summer, and while the Sun travels through Cancer, try to remember that the more we honor the rhythmicity in our lives the stronger we become. If you need to rest, rest! Take time for you. You are heading precisely where you need to go. And there’s nothing wrong with a little downtime and self-care along the way.

With pure chaos ensuing around the globe stemming from terrorism and political unrest, broad stroke challenges loom. On a personal level, we are forced to look at places where we need to reconcile personal pain to step more fully into our power, passion, and purpose.

The world needs you now more than ever, especially as our societal pain feels razor sharp. Don’t run and hide, instead be brave and look it in the eye. Prepare! In the meanwhile, a new iteration of your life purpose reveals itself. Don’t miss the power of this moment. It’s significant.

Now over to you! What’s coming up for you this new moon? Let me know in the comments.
