After weeks of retrograde activity, signifying a time to go within and acquaint ourselves with our darkness and deepest values, we finally have a super fertile new moon in Taurus asking us to plant new seeds for growth.
Yes, ladies, it’s time to cultivate abundance.
Taurus represents all things feminine: fertility, abundance, luxury, sensuality, and the feelings of satiation.
Who doesn’t want more of that?!
This new moon in Taurus, happening at 8:16 am ET at 6 degrees on April 26, 2017, doubles as a supermoon given its particular proximity to the Earth. However, since it’s a new moon, we won’t have the benefit of seeing it up close and personal.
- If you want to know more about the qualities of all of the new + full moons for the rest of 2017 so you can start to track them yourself I made this free guide for you, outlining the essential details of each moon for the remainder of the year. Download it here!

Looking Back: Venus Retrograde
Since the Sun and the moon will harmoniously align in Taurus, we must look at Taurus’s ruler, Venus, to understand the deeper meaning of this new moon. The most complicated aspect of this new moon comes from Saturn (the planet of hard lessons) in Sagittarius making a hard angle to Venus in Pisces (squaring), so we absolutely must review our Venus experience. If we don’t, we miss the point of this new moon entirely.
Venus, having recently completed her retrograde journey, took us through the underworld to find a part of ourselves that needs reintegration. As she transitioned from her Evening Star position to her Morning Star position, cosmically life became a journey of rediscovering our core values and our personal value in all aspects of our lives, but especially as they relate to love, abundance, and fertility.
We now have enough information to understand the aspects of our lives that have emerged since March 4th that require integration and acceptance as they relate to our feminine prowess.
Let Venus and her journey tell you precisely where you want to put your attention this new moon.
Where were you asked to fully accept, love, and receive your dark side or pain, so that you can step forward stronger and more centered in your power?
Breaking Down the Timeline Of Manifestation
Over the last year, I have noticed a particular rise in people flocking to my profession, not only highlighting astrology as a part of their career but even more specifically lunar astrology as their calling card. With so many offering cosmic advice, it’s essential to understand what all of this means and to not make light of such a spiritual science. To that end, I am going to be introducing in my blog posts the astrologers who have influenced me, so that wisdom doesn’t become lost in watered-down trends.
One such astrologer is Dietrech Pessin, who has written extensively about lunar phase astrology, particularly lunar gestation cycles.
She believes the fruition of our desires occurs in sync with nine-month gestation periods. As someone who has worked religiously with moon cycles since 2001, I can honestly say that I’ve seen other patterns emerge, often manifesting an intended outcome in the same lunar cycle. Other times, things have taken much longer, if they even manifested at all. Remember, just because we want something doesn’t mean we are supposed to have it. And, to Pessin’s point, manifestation is often a long-winded and intertwined experience.
The correlating full moon that will bring this new moon’s intentions to fruition won’t occur until the Taurus full moon on October 24, 2018. (Even then, according to the work of Pessin, we might not see the fruition of intended desires until the closing square of this lunar phase family on July 24, 2019.)
As I look forward to the full moon associated with this lunar phase family occurring 18 months from now, I see that ironically enough, Venus will be amidst her very next retrograde cycle.
A Pattern Emerges
Venus, who represents feminine prowess, with multiple faces, leads us forward, asking us to dig deep into our values to discover, and live, the truth of who we are! The intentions we set this new moon, on the heels of Venus Retrograde, will reverberate deeply in October of 2018 when Venus will retrograde next.
What do you envision for yourself come October of 2018 when we’ll have the culminating full moon of this lunar gestation cycle, consequently amidst the next Venus retrograde cycle?
With Beltane around the corner on May 1st, marking the halfway point between the last equinox and upcoming solstice, and Mercury turning direct on May 3rd, we have so much to celebrate this new moon. Now is the time to put your attention on our intended desires as they relate to the material manifestation of your life!
So over to you.
- What was your Venus retrograde lesson?
- How does that play into what you intend to manifest this new moon?
- Further, as you look out to October of 2018, where do you want to be then?
- What’s the connection between where you are today and where you hope to be then?
Set an intention for this new moon based on the truth you digested over the last few weeks. Go for soul. Go for truth. You won’t regret it.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you are manifesting this new moon!
As always, I send you all of my love.
Warmly,
Jenn

Hi Jen, thanks for deepening your offerings by referencing work of your teachers/guides. This Venus retrograde period, not sure how long it was but I think it was in force for awhile. I lost my mom, the Venusian Taurus woman–people miscontrue Taurus as being soft or under-represent the feminine. My Mother left strength and grace in her wake. It has caused me to re-integrate the power she held in life, juxtaposed with her long being unwell. While she served humanity, and was well loved and respected, I think she had unlived dreams, put others before herself habitually and once she told me she looked in the mirror one day and didn’t know when she had lost herself. I too, know this feeling and at midlife wish to reinvent, recreate my life forthe second half. I will honor her selflessness by integrating her strength and grace but place myself on top of my own list, prioritizing my wellness, willingness, happiness, abundance as I know she would wish. Venus in Taurus is strength, grace and unrivaled feminine power, let mo one doubt its resolve. 🌙

Oops! I meant under-estimate “Venus” not Taurus.

Hey Liz, I know this Venus retrograde was so hard, especially with the loss of your Mom. I see you and witness you in your strength. Here fo you! All of my love. Big hugs:)

Venus lessons: 1. self forgiveness 2. integration of my shadow as a powerful new tool!
I intend to manifest a new job that is fulfilling and pays well.
Through self forgiveness I experienced empowerment and expansion (in thoughts, beliefs, perspective, relationships). Embracing my “shadow”, what usually made me feel ashamed, brought me insights, skills that I didn’t even know that I had! and a lot better access to myself and the people I care for.
October 2018: I feel serene and I am happy in my new house, with this incredible job, enjoying life with daughters and growing on the path of spirituality!
Connection between now and then: Intention, clarity, grace (Jenn included) 🙂

This post was is great–and feels powerful to look at the framework of the next 18 months.
My intentions are to stop playing it small, and to show up fully in all areas of my life; to build a life around things that bring me joy, even when I’m not an expert at them; and to build the financial security my dad would have wanted for me.
jracioppi 04/28/17
Thank you, Hollis! This feels spot on. So grateful to you for reading and commenting, thank you!

Hi Jen and everybody, I’m quite new in this thing of tracking the moon cycles buy I am very interested in doing it, so I’m starting with this new moon and hope that will be a great start and that it comes with great things and changes. I’m in a transition period and I think that this will be a great complement to find and follow the right path. Thank you very much for your wisdom and generosity.

Fabulous! So grateful you are here and participating. Big hugs to you, and so much love. Looking forward to getting to know you!

I always appreciate your insights and my lesson from the recent Venus retrograde is about standing in my feminine power. For me that means moving forward, creating and trying new things, even if it is not perfect! I am seeing it like a dance….2 steps forward, 1 step back, then twirl and 3 steps forward again.
jracioppi 04/29/17
Yes, Kim, beautifully said. And so it is. Stand strong in your power. Thank you for commenting and reading. Big hugs!
