Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd)
Empress. Breadwinner. Nurturer.

Cancer Sun Sign
It’s easy to spot a Cancer star sign by the way guests are treated in their home. You’d be hard pressed to find someone ruled by the intuitive, divinely feminine moon who doesn’t make at least some kind of preparation for your stay. Think warm, buttered bread, the scent of cinnamon, and carefully placed mints on guest pillows. Ok, not to that extreme, but you get where I’m going. Cancers make an effort and want you to feel loved!
Even though you’re not a “homemaker” in the traditional sense (you’re too busy making the money after all!), consider the energy you give off to those around you. Maybe you’re not into homemade cookies and hand-knitted scarves, but the way you interact with others most definitely has a nourishing effect, whether you’re offering solid advice or practicing whole-hearted listening. After all, a Cancer’s main gift is to create safety and security for others to blossom and bloom.
Emotional waters run deep with the fourth sign of the zodiac, and for good reason.
Born under the essence of the Divine Mother (although this energy can and does present itself in any gender), this sign is most susceptible to carrying other people’s burdens and heartbreaks. Those around you sense your innate power to heal, so they may unintentionally (or, let’s be real, intentionally) pour some of their pain into your own psyche. While they may feel better, you’ll eventually find yourself dragging under others’ hefty emotional weight.
More than any other sign, boundaries are key for you, love.
(Especially if you find yourself feeling moody and resentful.)
Despite your family-oriented nature, spending time developing your own self-confidence is perhaps one of the most important ways to practice self-nurturance. Self-efficacy, resilience, financial independence, and true self-possession remain your biggest points of leverage.
Cancer is associated with traditions and tokens of the past. Think all the way back to previous decades, eras, and lifetimes. Which is why so many Cancerian souls tend to drift toward nature as a steady consistency when everything else has changed. There’s an instant thrum of recognition in the soil, a happy reminder of faith that all things eventually bloom with the proper nourishment. You’re not only a natural gardener of the soil, you’re a gardener of the soul.
Not all emotion is yours to hold, dear heart.
While it may come easy for you to take care of everyone around you, your true power lies in discernment. The sooner you accept that you can’t carry it all, the sooner you can step into your own, true emotional current. And this is where you really shine, Cancer. When you know for certain which emotions are yours, you can use that energy to persuade, ponder, and power through your most soul-satisfying projects. This is how you nourish yourself. This is how you listen to your soul.
To reach your highest potential, it’s key that you consider the methods by which you help and heal. Are your boundaries solid, or are you acquiescing to someone’s ego-driven wants? Sometimes we serve the people we love best by telling them no so that they can fulfill their own soul growth. Instead of nurturing who they—and you—are now, strive to nourish who they can be. It has the potential to make all the difference.
Cancer Rising Sign
With Cancer as your rising sign, whether you acknowledge it or not, you require a strong foundation before you’d even dream of taking a single step forward, let alone a leap. But please note, this foundation often comes as self-esteem. Though, to be real, you wouldn’t mind if it was in the form of cash either. When it comes to money, after all, you like your abundance to have abundance. Truth: you’re excellent at building a nest egg for the future, you also thrive at nesting, period.
Even though you don’t consider yourself a “homemaker” in the traditional sense, there’s a good chance that others see you as a home base of sorts. At a minimum, you’re a safe place for the people you love to rest and reflect while you heal them back to wholeness.
Because your emotions tend to be all-encompassing, you feel deep.
Like Mariana Trench deep. Yet, you have to totally trust someone before you’ll open up (again with that sense of security). There’s nothing wrong with that, love, as long as you’re still giving yourself the opportunity to grow through your relationships. You don’t always have to be the one doing the protecting—allow others to care for you, too.
While Cancer risings often come across as homebodies who play their cards close to the vest, the truth is, as a Cancer rising you are often dreaming big—not just for yourself but for those you love, too!
Cancer Moon Sign
As a Cancer Moon, the depth to your emotional intuition is truly unknowable—even you haven’t found the bottom. There’s no doubt that you feel everything to the max. The question is if you’re using that emotional impact to grow more into yourself.
It’s true that you feel fulfilled when caring for others, but caring for yourself is just another way to build the security your soul craves. No matter how much you nurture, you can’t control what happens to the people and things you love. But you’ll always be with yourself. #selfcareorbust
The key is to know when it’s time to recharge or charge forward. Give yourself the time and space to putter around the house or spend some time solo when you need a reboot. Just be sure to get back out into the world when you’re ready to face your dreams head on. In fact, take a cue from your opposite sign, Capricorn. Don’t be afraid to take up space! But lucky you, with the moon in her home sign, you have a natural sense of alignment with your emotions. This helps you stay healthy.
