Wow, this new moon brings an emphasis on abundance—and I mean abundance with a capital A.
When the moon and the sun come into exact alignment as they do at the time of the new moon, the yang energy of the sun combines with the yin energy of the moon, commencing a new cycle. New moons provide a calm quiet respite.
New moons are times to wipe the slate clean, and take advantage of a fresh start. Due to the heightened gravitational pull of the moon, all new moons provide an opportune moment to pause, reconnect with your desires and “plant” your intentions! (Farmers have traditionally used this gravitational pull to their advantage, planting with the moon for centuries!) That’s why I write these blog posts, to remind you of this rhythm and encourage you to tune it. It’s real and powerful. When leveraged, the combination of the aligned sun and the moon create an atmosphere for truth, deep-seated desire, and possibility to come forth.
This particular new moon, however, comes with extra heartfelt, aligned potency, meant to uplift and exceed our expectations. As the sun and the moon meet up at twenty-one degrees of Leo, the sky provides a potent cocktail of firey opportunity.
Leo, a fire sign ruled by the sun represents our need for play. Creativity reigns under the influence of Leo. Right now, Leo’s hot. Mars, Venus, the sun, and moon are all in the sign of the lion. With this emphasis on Leo, we might we need to prioritize our needs, make our presence known, and take a stand for ourselves. On a deeper level, this is really about taking honoring and healing our hearts.
Venus, (the planet of love and beauty), who’s spending an extra long time in Leo (almost halfway through her retrograde cycle) wants us to go in and heal our broken hearts. Her connection to this new moon, asks us to seed a new beginning when it comes to love. Self-love. Relationship-love. Career-love. Love of our children. Love of our creativity.
Since Venus went retrograde on July 25, 2015 I’ve heard from many about break-ups, reconciliations, profound callings from within to make major changes with careers, radical actions taken to heal broken hearts, as well hearts breaking for the very first time. By now, you should understand Venus’ directive in your life and the deep message of her retrograde cycle. Do you?
What has Venus brought to your attention? How has she led you to a deeper understanding of you, your needs, your desires? Have you taken the time to listen?
This potent new moon –honestly some are better than others, and I particularly like this one– happening so closely to Venus (with Mars and Jupiter nearby, receiving a healthy helping hand from change-making Uranus) really wants us to dive deep within, set strong intentions to heal our hearts and break free.
Right now, the path to true prosperity is all about service, devotion, and dedication.
You see, on August 11th, a new astrological cycle of prosperity, purpose and service kicked off. At this time, Jupiter–the biggest planet in the solar system–entered Virgo where he’ll remain for a little over a year, until September 9, 2016. This hasn’t happened in 11 years!
Jupiter transits mark a time for opportunity, and this influence won’t disappoint. As the most auspicious planet leaves Leo and enters Virgo, we move from a playful, “look at me,” zeitgeist to a more service-oriented, duty-related, focus. The feel-good, positive influence of Jupiter combines with the integrity and practicality of Virgo to accelerate the momentum of purposeful service.
This is the first new moon after this momentous shift in position, happening at the same time as the Sun and Venus connecting at the same degree on the 15th! This is SO good!
But you can’t just sit back. While this may be a positive time, you have to leverage this spirit to make things happen.
Three Ways to Harness the opportunity of this new moon.
1. Heal your broken heart.
With Venus retrograde, we cannot escape our feelings when it comes to love. No matter who you are and what life looks like for you, I guarantee there is likely a heartfelt issue up for some evaluation. Use this time to really get honest. Where does your heart crave healing? What is your heart asking of you? Often Forgiveness is the antidote for hurt. Can you appreciate the lessons you learned? If you are stuck in sadness, grief or a stressful relationship that can’t seem to work itself out, this is the perfect time to reach out for help. Look for a professional who can help you. While grief and love are not topics I specialize in, I have a great list of referrals to great coaches and therapists who can support this transformation.
2. Invest in your work.
Jupiter moving into Virgo brings a very productive energy, so dive into your work and get things done. The luck of the season will open up opportunity and let things finally fall into place, so don’t be surprised that you are making true gains in your work. And, even better, this work will feel good, as long as you stay aligned with your purpose and reason for your labor. While Virgo is productive, it also emphasizes health and sustainability. With Jupiter entering Virgo, we are poised to make great gains in our personal work and to contribute to our outer environment in a truly authentic and feel-good way.
3. Don’t be afraid to go big.
The new moon in Leo wants us to GO BIG! Focus outside of yourself with a sense of devotion, and the big achievements and breakthroughs will come.
The luckiest day of the year, occurring August 26, is the perfect time to kick off on a deep dive into your soul’s purpose and earthly calling, for that will set you up for further success. This occurs just three days before the full supermoon in Pisces on August 29. The next two weeks are solid to take action and move forward with your most heartfelt intentions.
I’m sooo excited; I can barely take it! I’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and let me know how you are going to use this new moon to create your best life.
Sending you so much love…
