Can you believe it is already the middle of February? The first six weeks of 2015 are now complete, and we are at the second new moon of the new year. While new moons signify a time to initiate brand-new projects and begin new habits, this particular new moon is slightly different. It is the second Aquarius new moon in a row, happening at the last degree of Aquarius, making the focus tonight on closure rather than an inception.

Remember Aquarius is a free-spirited sign that likes to make up its rules. This new moon asks us to release what does not serve us, so we have space in our lives to call in new beginnings that represent our individual needs. What rules do you want to break? What ideas are you ready to let go of, so you can step more authentically into your truth? Tonight, get quiet and listen to where you are conforming in a way that doesn’t serve you, and consider what life would look like if you shifted this energy. It is time to step into a more cutting-edge version of you.

Though before we set sail in the direction of the most adventurous versions of ourselves, we have to find closure with where we deny our ability to evolve.

In the northern hemisphere, we are dead smack in the middle of winter. In New York where I live, it is bitter-freezing-ridiculously-below-zero-windy-snowy-cold. Fortunately though, we are coming into the home stretch of darkness as we approach the end of winter. While we may want to wish away the next month, now is the time to make the most of the darkness. Before too long we will return to the light of long days and more amicable temperatures. We will be in the thick of new beginnings and the blossoming of our manifestations. While it is easy to begrudge the cold, dark, dim days of winter, it is also essential to use them to our advantage. Through darkness, we find the introspection that allows us to break free. Use this energy to go within and find your courage to make the changes you know you must.

If you happen to live in an area of the world that is a bit warmer and brighter than the northeast of the USA, this still applies. We are at the tail end of Aquarius energy with a new moon asking us to consider where we are blocking our individuality and need to release some aspect of conformity to give birth to our truth.

Tonight, I would love for you to look inward and ask: what are you holding onto in your life, even if it does not bring you joy? What do you think you need, even though holding onto that very thing is stopping you from stepping into the best version of you? Stay in the darkness and nurture yourself. Experiment, try, be different. Be you. Remember, if something does not bring you joy, it is a good idea to let it go! Release, release, release. Purge all that blocks you from coming fully into the unique expression of you!

This new moon has purification written all over it. From an astrological perspective, we are on the brink of our rebirth. Within minutes of this new moon, the Sun moves into Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, preparing us for the total solar eclipse that will happen on March 20th right before the spring equinox. Further, tomorrow is the Chinese New Year, calling forth the year of the goat — another sign of new beginnings. This new Moon also coincides with the commencement of Lent and the end of Carnival or, if you live in New Orleans, Mardi Gras. From a Christian perspective, Ash Wednesday initiates a 40-day fasting period meant to purify the spirit in preparation for the rebirth that Easter signifies. Whether you follow a Christian calendar or not, this new moon offers the opportunity to reinvigorate your intentions for 2015. Now is the time to dig deep into your vision of who you are becoming instead of abandoning it out of resignation. Don’t give up — we are just getting started!

Regardless how 2015 started for you, go within and get clear on what you need to release. It is time to step into your courage and create the best year yet. It is not too late. As a matter of fact, it is just beginning.

I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to let me know: what you are releasing this new moon?

Warmly,

Jennifer
