Happy Harvest Full Moon.
The September 24, 2018 full moon in Aries perfects at 10:52 pm ET in the first sign of the zodiac, Aries. The Harvest Moon is always the full moon nearest the autumnal equinox.
As the Harvest Moon rises around the same time every year, “it would result in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening, which was a traditional aide to farmers and crews harvesting their summer-grown crops,” according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
“Additionally, the Full Harvest Moon rises at sunset and then will rise very near sunset for several nights in a row… It may almost seem as if there are full moons multiple nights in a row!”
With the full moon rising near sunset for the next several days, dusk becomes extra illuminated, extending the felt power of this full moon. Making tonight, and really this whole week, an excellent time to consider what you are harvesting in your life.
Because this full moon happens just shy of 2 degrees of Aries, the moon will travel opposite the Sun in Aries until the wee hours of the morning on Thursday ET, too.
Meaning, we will feel the Aries vibes for days!
Harvest Full Moon in Aries: Channeling the Fiery Vibes
An Aries full moon brings cardinal fire energy, so you’ll want to think about channeling this effectively.
Tonight’s full moon in Aries conjoins Chiron, the wounded healer, while squaring Saturn, the planet of deep soul lessons. Because of this, we can also expect this full moon—and the days following it— to illuminate pain points and growth opportunities, too. (Especially with Saturn squaring the Sun and opposing Chiron.)
So, for the next couple of days, don’t just let this energy stir in your body—use it productively by getting physical. Look at ways you can engage exercise to help process the intensity of life. Take a walk. Go for a run. Turn on music and dance. If you need to, punch a punching bag! Let out all of your feelings, including aggression, and anger. Do it productively. Don’t forget about the power of sex either. Journaling, too, offers tremendous support as well. In the word of Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar, “Emotions are amoral.” Give yourself permission to feel your truth, whatever it may be!
Looking Back to Look Ahead: The Manifestation Long Game
Leading up to the harvest full moon in Aries, I’ll be spending time at my altar. I’m using this time to reflect back to intentions set with the new moon in Aries in 2017.
According to Dietrech Pessin’s Lunar Gestation Cycle theory, this full moon accentuates intentions set on March 27, 2017— highlighting the growth of seeds planted then.
Dietrech Pessin, who has written extensively about lunar phase astrology (particularly lunar gestation cycles), believes the fruition of our desires occur in sync with nine-month gestation periods. Meaning that full moons mark a culmination of intentions set 18 months prior. (This takes into consideration a nine-month period from new moon to waxing quarter, and another nine-month period from waxing quarter to full.)Full moons mark a point of reflection. They tell an evolutionary story about actions taken over the previous 18 months.
To Pessin’s point, manifestation is often a long-winded and intertwined experience. Having tracked lunar phases for seventeen years, I have found tremendous truth in this methodology.
Releasing With The Full Moon
So, as you consider what you are ready to harvest in your own life, take the last 18 months into consideration. What’s blossoming and blooming in your life based on intentions set then? Better yet, what goal did you set then, that really needs your support right now?
