When you find yourself hitting up against the hard stuff in life, and there’s suddenly turbulence at every angle, it can feel impossible to access clarity.
Emotions are running high, fear is hogging your head space, and adverse outcomes are hanging in the balance–making it so easy to get lost in your mind versus sinking in and feeling your way to the answers.
I have so been there.
In fact, I’ve got a throwback story from you from 2007 when I was struggling as a freelancer. I had a dream of working for myself, doing what I love, but the reality was I could barely afford my life. Projects just weren’t flowing, I kept hitting walls, and I was a full of financial anxiety every day. I knew it was time to make a change, but I was so overwhelmed by the shit storm of feeling stuck I had no idea what to do.
Until I got an unexpected intuitive hit to call a headhunter. At the time, this felt like a ridiculous idea because I was so attached to having my freelance business. But, something inside me said to connect with this person anyway. I followed this intuitive hunch.
Calling this headhunter at this exact moment, I found the most incredible opportunity. Immediately when we connected she said she had “the perfect opportunity ” (thanks for the wink, Universe). I had a strong feeling to move on it.
What should’ve been a grueling interview process wound up being a piece of cake. I jived with every person I met and even found myself getting excited at the prospect of working with them. Two days later they hired me as a consultant, and my income took a very nice bump. After a couple of paychecks, I went from being underwater financially to up to date on everything. Getting things in check financially gave me the head space to expand my creativity even more. This job became an answer to a prayer. To my surprise, I wound up staying on their team for years and thriving in business in a way I didn’t even know I could. The foundation this job provided me created the platform for where I am today. (Thank you Saturn Return!)
That one choice to listen to my gut quite literally shifted everything for my business, and I opened myself up to discovering that I had a deep passion for business–one of the key focuses of my services today.
Had I not had faith in the signals that came from the Universe and my intuition, I may have hit rock bottom with my freelance business back then. The experience taught me that trusting your gut has to be non-negotiable in life and especially in career.
So, let’s talk about you. Where are you struggling?
If life has been tough lately or for a while, follow these three steps to dig through the mess and find the gems that lie in your intuition.
Get honest. It’s so easy to convince ourselves that things are “just fine,” that we’re just hitting a rough patch, and it will pass. Although it’s true that things always pass, it’s necessary to address the heart of the matter. Is there something you’re not owning up? Are you banging your head against a wall unnecessarily? Be honest with yourself and tune into your instincts. What feels like the right thing to do? Listen.
Take action. Now that you know what to do, do it. Have the conversation. Ask for help. Let go of the stuff that’s holding you back. And if you still don’t know what to do go, back to step one and repeat!
Surrender. Once you connect with your truth and know how to move forward, surrender the outcome. Trust that the Universe has your back and that there is a resolution making its way towards you as we speak. Even if it doesn’t make sense. Especially if it’s humbling.
Whether we like it or not, the following saying is true: Life is what happens when we’re making other plans. It’s our job to take a step back often and heed the signs that may be pointing us in a new direction. Instead of ignoring them and the feelings that arise too, get curious. What could the Universe be telling you? What could those gut feelings mean? Trust that something beautiful is arriving. Tune in, take action and let it happen.
Join the conversation in the comments below and let me know what you’re currently bumping up against. What has your intuition been telling you that you don’t want to hear? Or how has your intuition guided you to the perfect next step?
As always, I send you my love.
Big hugs,
Jenn
