If you’ve been feeling the cosmic intensity since we blasted into the new year, you’re not alone. This new moon in Aquarius, happening at 4:41 PM ET at 4 degrees of the sign of the water bearer, definitely delivers. Frankly, it couldn’t be a better time to dig deep and recommit to your vision.
In fact, we’re all dealing with the lessons this super rare Saturn-Pluto conjunction offers, and some of them aren’t exactly pleasant. (My last blog post talks more about what may come to the surface this month.)
The Aquarius archetype rules revolution and lightning-quick insight, and the new moon in this sign gives us a chance to slough off any resolutions we made three weeks ago that aren’t in alignment with where we thought we were going. A lot has happened since the calendar year turned over, so if you find that those #newyearnewyou goals you set last month don’t fit like you thought they would, that’s okay. Go with it.
Consider this new moon a fresh opportunity to get even clearer on your intentions.
Not only does the new moon in Aquarius fall in such a visionary sign, it also marks the Lunar New Year and the beginning of the Chinese calendar year, giving us a double dose of new beginnings. But hang tight and remember: we’re still in the midst of this Saturn-Pluto conjunction, which means we have to get serious about our goals (especially if we weren’t at the start of the year).
Even more so, this new moon in Aquarius answers to Uranus, the ruler of the water bearer, which currently squares the sun and the moon. This combination asks you to shake loose that which you no longer need; which is challenging and abrupt, but ultimately liberating.
This is a year of incredible transformation for us all, and in some way, we’ll each experience the elation of new beginnings and the intensity of timely endings. The current new moon doesn’t fall short on holding true to this theme.
Ask yourself: How can I step into authentic alignment with who I am now while preparing for where I’m going?
Helping us out on the goal-planning front are Venus and Neptune. They are in an applying conjunction this new moon, merging their magic while forming a supportive trine to the North Node. This is a dreamy, heady transit that gives us a nudge to think even bigger. This energy encourages us to think outside the box and dream as far as our imagination can take us. Who knows where you could be at the end of 2020? Truly, anything is possible.
And luckily for us, the sun and moon also make a soothing conjunction at 4 degrees in Aquarius, while communicator Mercury is also hanging out in this intellectual and humanitarian sign. The cosmos support our fullest expression of those wild-hearted dreams we come up with—as long as we’re taking them seriously.
This is the perfect time to reestablish your priorities, refocus on your soul’s true goals, and connect with like-minded people who are going to support you on this journey.
Again though, there are challenges here, too. While Venus and Neptune conjoin, they do so in a square to Mars, bringing a sense of urgency to the table. Couple this with the fact that the Pluto-Saturn conjunction squares Eris, the dwarf planet of feminine discord. These transits can, and often do, ask us to connect with our anger.
Stay mindful of what you feel, and ask for what you need. You don’t need to pretend to hold it all together. It’s ok to crumble into pain if that’s where you are authentically at. Just remember to ask for help, too. Let your friends and family know what you are going through. If you don’t have a reliable community in that way, seek out help where you can find it (a twelve-step program or support group, private counseling, a healer you can trust).
Just don’t do it alone. Aquarius is about groups. So please do lean into the support you do have.
As I always say, your emotional well-being is of utmost importance. When you’re creating connections and going after your goals with courage, be sure to surround yourself with people who respect and elevate you. Aquarius also rules friendships (IRL and online), so this is also a great time to consider who you’d like in your support squad this year—even if you haven’t met them yet.
That’s why building a community of like-minded and whole-hearted womxn is such a major focus of Moon School, my flagship group coaching mastermind. Being assertive with your goals is one thing, but tapping into truly authentic, supportive energy that nourishes you while you strive? That’s a revolution.
Here’s the bottom line: This is a year of life-altering transformation. There’s not a minute to waste getting down to business.
