On October 23rd, 2019, the sun moved out of harmonizing Libra and settled into Scorpio, marking a major shift from the idea of “balance” to all-or-nothing intensity.
Scorpio Season And Samhain
The grit and magic of Scorpio season unleashes a tenacity from within. A fixed water sign, Scorpio also puts us in the center of the season: fall in the north or spring in the south. In the northern hemisphere, it also encompasses Samhain (pronounced SAH-wiñ), which marks the turning point from autumn to winter.
Samhain is the Gaelic new year when the veil between worlds is thought to be the thinnest. Samhain or All Hallows’ Eve, invites us to connect with our inner sorcerous. At the turning point of Samhain, we begin to take an internal shift inward. We’re asked to integrate all that we’ve done and learned during the lighter half of the year.
I love this time of year so much that I actually planned one of the biggest events of my life on Halloween: my wedding. Ten years ago, my husband and I said, “I do.” We commenced our marriage with commitments to the earth, air, water, and fire on mischief night in Manhattan. My loving, Catholic, family gathered around us with such pure support that it marked an important turning point. To get married via a ceremony that I wrote with the love and support of my family unleashed tremendous healing. I felt accepted and appreciated for exactly who I am.
Scorpio: The Season of Self-Honoring
This is truly the lesson of this new moon in Scorpio: to self-honor. The Scorpio new moon—despite challenging astrological configurations—is one of the most fertile new moons of the year. So, please do take time to tune in and ask yourself what it is you most want to conjure in your life.
We welcome this moon at 4 degrees of Scorpio on October 27th, 2019 at 11:38 pm ET. This new moon brings an influx of energy. Consider all things unseen; the mystical and esoteric stuff that fills in the cracks in our lives. This is a great time to set intentions around sex, transformation, and spirituality. Scorpio season asks us to consider how truly intimate we are with others and ourselves. It asks us to question how this raw authenticity and vulnerability can play a major role in our transformation.
New Moon in Scorpio: Expect The Unexpected
Prepare yourself for a few surprises, though. This moon is almost exact opposite Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is the planet of revolution and rebellion. With his placement directly across from this intense new moon in Scorpio’s sister sign, expect the unexpected. Since Taurus rules the material realm, it’s completely possible we could bump up against a few surprises with our finances. I recommend deep, soul-driven conversations around merging, money, debt, and investments always, but especially now. There could also be a shakeup surrounding your most intimate partnerships.
Whatever comes up for you, just know that you are more than capable of handling it all. Sure, the unexpected may be jolting, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Consider it as a cosmic nudge toward your highest alignment. It might come in the form of a conversation, an idea, a new opportunity, or something else entirely. And if you’re feeling really un-grounded, this is the perfect time to adopt a new moon ritual. These rituals help even surprising moments feel sacred.
Celebrate Samhain And Scorpio Season Your Way
As for me, I’m putting my nose to the grindstone and turning in this book to my editor just after Scorpio season ends. (Yep—I’m still writing my book—and still at my desk on the daily.) I’ve long given up the idea that balance is a thing that exists or that we should even pursue. Instead, I’m fully invested in sourcing my power from within. I’m doing what feels good, not trying to make my life look a certain way from the outside, but actually just live my truth, moment by moment.
To that point, I am all-in on what lights me up. My work now requires soul-level-determination. And at the same time, no amount of focus could have prepared me for the surprises this last year has offered me. I’ve learned so much about who I am as a holistic health coach and a human being.
To that point, I’m going to step away from blogging for most of November so I can finish this chapter (literally). Plus, Mercury is going retrograde on October 31st. He’ll be back-spinning throughout November, making it the perfect time to shift to a more internal focus.
But I’ll be back! Until then, you can stay in-the-know about what’s happening in the cosmos on my Instagram page. And stay tuned for my return — I have so many exciting things to share with you.
I’d love to hear what’s coming up for you this new moon. Let me know in the comments below!
All of my love,
Jenn
